Becoming a doula was something that caught me by surprise. While I was pregnant, I realized that I needed more information about birth and my options. After the birth of my daughter, I felt a shift within myself and began taking steps towards a pretty big career change! (I had been teaching preschool for six years). I now find myself immersed in this amazing birth world and loving every minute. I enjoy helping families learn about their options and supporting them on their own, individual journeys. I believe birth is an amazing and empowering process. My job as a doula is to support families as they make choices about the kind of birth and postpartum experiences they would like to have.

I am a certified Birth and Bereavement Doula through StillBirthday and a certified  Birth Doula through Childbirth International. And I am also a trained Postpartum Doula through ProDoula. I recently trained through Healthy Children’s Project and earned my Certified Lactation Counselor Certificate. I am excited to bring this new service to the families I support.
I firmly believe that a doula should never stop learning. I make it a goal to attend all the different trainings I possibly can. I also make sure to stay on top of all the new information that comes out regarding pregnancy, birth, the postpartum period, breastfeeding and child care. The better educated I am, the better I can serve and support you.

I am a mom of three, and I know firsthand how exciting and overwhelming the birth of a child can be. I also know how extra support during this time helps mom and the rest of the family adjust.

"I believe that the births of our children are one of the most transformative experiences of our lives. I also believe that this transformative power is not dependent upon our birth following a particular path, but is available in any scenario. In my work with birthing women and couples, I focus on helping them understand the birth process, their choices in birthing, and medical interventions that they may encounter. I also work with the pregnant woman and her birth partner to explore inner tools they can develop to help them stay "centered" in the midst of the birth process. Working as a prenatal yoga instructor, birth educator, and perinatal massage therapist in addition to my doula practice, I often integrate these modalities with my doula care to further support families.

I have been fascinated with pregnancy and childbirth for as long as I can remember. Inspired by my daughters's birth back in 2009, I decided to become a doula and nourish a life-long dream to support women and their partners before, during and after the birth of their child. Childbirth is such an amazing, incredible journey and I feel honored to be a doula. I believe that each pregnancy is unique. In my work as a doula, I strive to meet each of my clients' needs based on their individual circumstances. In addition to my doula work, I have achieved a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Ecomomics from Empire State College in New York, which I utilized at my family's child care center for the last decade. Additionally, I am a Reiki Master/Teacher. Reiki is a form of energy work, it is gentle and a very effective form of promoting a relaxed state. I am happy to use Reiki with a client during their labor if they express an interest.

As a birth and postpartum doula, my focus is supporting the mother and her family during this time of transition and joy. I know personally how disheartening or empowering a birth experience can be, and my dream is for all mothers to be supported and respected during their birth no matter what the circumstances. My job is to share information and then honor the mother's choices while helping her to be as comfortable and confident as possible. Each birth is so incredible and I feel blessed to be a part of this journey for the families that I serve. In my spare time I love to read, cook, and be outside with my family, gardening and tending our flock of chickens.

I am a doula because I believe that all pregnant people deserve care that affirms autonomy and respects all during such a transformative moment, regardless of any identities they hold. Originally from California, I first heard of the term reproductive justice when I was 15 years old as a peer educator at the local Planned Parenthood. Since then I have been increasingly interested in the ways in which doula care intersects with birth and reproductive justice. I am a queer and trans friendly provider who has experience and training in LGBTQ healthcare. I am passionate about racial and class justice. I believe that the fight for justice begins at birth. Birth Justice exists when women and transfolks are empowered during pregnancy, labor, childbirth and postpartum to make healthy decisions for themselves and their babies. I believe that doula care can help achieve such justice on an individual level.

The transition to motherhood, for the 1st time or the 5th time, is an incredible transformation. As a birth and postpartum doula I work with the mother and her family to support that transition and to facilitate bonding with the new baby. My mission as a birth and postpartum doula is to provide non-biased, evidence-based support through pregnancy and beyond. Prior to my doula training I received a master's degree in clinical psychology. When I worked as a therapist I sought to provide my clients with skills they could utilize outside of my office. As a doula, I seek to support my clients through birth and postpartum so that they can confidently make decisions best suited to their wishes. I honed my research skills in graduate school and I keep those skills sharp by staying up-to-date on current best-practices for birth, postpartum and infant care. My doula practice aims to nurture, educate and empower families as they transition to parenthood. In my free time I enjoy spending time at the beach with my children, running races in support of Every Mother Counts and reading lots and lots of books.

I am a mother to 4 beautiful children and learned different things during each of their labors but I think what I learned most was that I never felt supported enough through my pregnancies and especially through my labors. Then I became a registered nurse and worked on maternity ward and got to see that Nurses are so busy in labor and delivery that they can't spend special time with each patient to make them feel more comfortable and supported. Being on that side of things was a eye opener for me but I absolutely loved watching new life enter this world and the strength the moms showed to bring their babies into this world. Fast Forward : I stopped nursing to stay home with my children till they were all in school. In the meantime I had friends & family who knew my background who asked me to be in the delivery room with them. After my first couple of births, word spread about how great it was to have that extra support, encouragement, and empathy for not only themselves but for the partner as well. At my I believe 20th birth i was asked by the nurses, midwifes, and doctors why I wasn't a certified doula and told I would be great at it! I went home talked it over with my husband and my previous friends births I had attended and they all agreed that I would be a great Doula and I thought so too! I immediately signed myself up for Doula training through DONA International and started taking everything else i needed to get certified and also reading everything I could. I am so excited to help mom's on their beautiful pregnancy/birthing journey!
